Trista & Dan's Romantic Waterfront Sunset Session
there’s a very particular reason we ask to shoot at sunset and it’s exactly this…
Let Trista & Dan’s session be a testament to what being patient and waiting for good weather looks like. We always promise that it’s worth it to wait, and seriously this session is really the proof in the pudding for that! When planning this out T&D already knew where they wanted to go Colonel Samuel Smith Park at Humber College, and having already shot another beautiful engagement session there we knew what an impact a clear sunny evening would have on the shoot, so we knew it had to happen on a perfect evening. As we normally do, we asked Trista & Dan for a few tentative dates to shoot; we typically aim to shoot on the earliest date we can and will use the other dates as our back up / rain dates. Throughout the week we got a few overcast days we all agreed to push it, and finally after raining all day and waiting until the last possible moment, the rain finally cleared and we went for it!
We actually have talked quite a bit amongst ourselves how we don’t feel put out or at a loss for always asking rescheduling shoots; we really do want to provide the best experience and best photos possible when we do shoot and for us, when shooting on location, that involves having the best weather possible. I’m not sure if it’s something unusual to do, especially since T&D mentioned that they had worked with. a couple of other photographers who did not this which led to not the greatest experience and not the greatest photos. We’re so thankful to them for putting their faith in us in not only enjoying our work so much that they tagged us to be their chosen photographer, but also putting their trust in us to guide them through this shoot and to let them know what we need to do our best, it really does mean a lot :’)
We had such a wonderful evening walking around the park with them, capturing their love, and really taking in how incredible the day turned out to be. We especially loved their description of how they knew that they were the one for each other, “we're each others' best friends, and that night really felt like how we want our marriage to be - a lifelong slumber party with our best bud.”
