Adriana & Cicero's Chic City Wedding at Oretta

shooting this wedding was like going on a little tour of downtown toronto!

While Cicero got ready at their new home in The Beaches, Adriana was with her squad at 1 Hotel (formerly The Thompson Hotel), a new sustainably focused luxury hotel in the heart of King West. The newly revamped 1Hotel was such a stunning and convenient location for her to get ready (being a stones throw away from their venue and all!), and their room was a neutrally toned, bright, and spacious room AKA a photographer’s dream! The hotel had multiple events going on (it was pride weekend!) so we coordinated their first look to happen on the terrace since it was the only space that was available. A&C had a sentimental moment to themselves that turned into a quick dance before their families came out for some more photos.

Our next step was heading to the Music Gardens at the Harbourfront, and then exploring the beautiful back alleys of King West while making our way to our final destination, Oretta, all while shooting along the way! It was so much fun to have such a large chunk of time for portraits, and most importantly, for A&C to have some time to themselves! It’s always hard for couples to have their own moment on their wedding day, and while they weren’t completely alone because we were there lol, I’m glad they got to hang out, embrace, and talk to each other before things really kicked off. It goes without saying but these two were such naturals in front of the camera and we can’t help but think, in part, it was because they shot their engagement session with us ;)

Apart from having the most delicious food, the main restaurant area is art-deco inspired and so beautiful. Their back patio is just off of King West in a quite laneway so if want your own privacy while still enjoying your time at a trendy, and popular, restaurant, you can still get it.

For their celebration A+C had a small, private, upstairs area rented for their ceremony and dinner that was intimate, and decorated with lots of candles and various bits of foliage to spruce up the space. Their planner, Thameena, did a fabulous job flipping the space and turning the ceremony space into a second dinner area for their guests. Don't forget to peep the incredible double sided cake they got from Bobbette & Belle!

Speaking of dinner… I can’t express how important it is to feed your vendors! This was the first time, as a vendor, that we were fed before all of the guests and it was perfect! We’re typically fed last, which is understandable, but logistically it means that by the time we receive our food, the couple is up and moving again, so we only get a chance to scarf down a few bites before having to get up again. Before fed first gives us an opportunity to truly eat (and to sit and recharge!) while everyone else is getting settled. I can’t express enough how great it was to be able to eat while everyone was settling down for dinner so that by the time we were needed for speeches we were already fed and ready to go!
