QUESTION:

how would you describe your style?

Answer:

At Rosewood Studios, our wedding photography is a beautiful balance of both documentary and editorial photography.; we like to be as unobtrusive as possible during events, focusing on authentic moments by bringing your stories to life through candid captures. We also have a deep love for editorial photography so we love a more structured scene if you want to feel glamorous and chic through thoughtful composition, posing, and lighting.

Ultimately we love to make our clients happy by simply capturing their love whether being a fly on the wall, giving guidance, or— more often than not— doing a little bit of both. We work to your unique comfort level in a way that feels authentic to you while pulling from these two styles of photography.

QUESTION:

3 PHOTOGRAPHERS, THAT’S GREAT! BUT HOW DOES IT WORK?

Answer:

If you’ve already read our about page you know that we’re a small team of 3 professional wedding photographers in Toronto— Stef, Hannah, & Ethan. Most of our packages offer 1 photographer for your day, though we do have a couple of packages for larger weddings that include 2 photographers.

What’s great about 3 people is that if anything were to happen to any of us and one of us unexpectedly can’t make it, we have someone readily available to jump in on a moments notice without disrupting your big day!

Another great thing is that we are all long time friends who have been photographing weddings side by side for years, so we mesh together really well, and know that our work and our approach to shooting is consistent among all 3 of us (there are so many times we look at photos and don’t know who shot what!)

QUESTION:

what's the process like for receiving photos?

ANSWER:

We like to send out a small preview of your photos within a few days following your wedding, that way you have a little something to share with your family and friends, because we know they’re all waiting for it ;)

Our turnaround time for all your wedding photos is 4-6 weeks and they’ll be made available via a private online gallery where you can view, share, and download everything. All of our photos are provided in high-resolution which is perfect for printing.

QUESTION:

let's talk money: what's the payment breakdown?

ANSWER:

We have 3 instalments for payments:

  1. A non-refundable $900 retainer due upon signing the contract

  2. 50% of your total due 4 weeks before your wedding

  3. Your remaining balance due 4 weeks after your wedding

For our smallest package (4hrs) we do two 50/50 instalments, one as a retainer upon contract signing and the other due 4 weeks following your wedding.

E-Transfer is our preferred method of payment. We also accept cheque, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex) and cash.

We do not offer tax free discounts for cash payments. Unfortunately wedding photography is not considered an applicable service for status / tax-exempt cards, whether on or off a rez.

QUESTION:

are there any additional fees for travel?

ANSWER:

Our complimentary travel range is 80km from where Rosewood Studios is located in Toronto, with travel thereafter charged at $0.80/km.

For example: Gravenhurst, ON is 328km round trip from our home base. This means 248km of this travel will be subject to travel fees. Travel for this trip (248km x $0.80/km) will amount to an additional $198.40

For destination weddings we have an all inclusive wedding photography package— with coverage, travel, and accommodations included— to simplify the process as much as possible. With that said, we are completely open to customizing a package that best suits your destination and your celebration— let’s chat about it!

Take a peek at our TRAVEL NOTICE page to see when & where we are travelling throughout the year. If listed we will be accepting work in that area with no additional airfare and/or accommodation fees.

QUESTION:

how do engagement sessions work?

ANSWER:

We absolutely love engagement photography sessions! Getting to spend a little more time with you before we photograph your wedding day will help you feel more comfortable and confident in front of the cameras with us. Plus, you’ll end up with more photos of the two of you, just celebrating with each other during this crazy time of wedding planning. Honestly, it’s a win-win for everyone which is why we include them in our packages at no extra cost.

Engagement sessions can be shot anytime up to 2 months before your wedding. They last up to 1.5hrs in length, and include as many outfit changes as you can fit into that time frame (people usually go with a formal + informal clothing option, but really it’s up to you!). Sessions can happen anywhere meaningful to you— at home, where you had your first date, at your neighbourhood park— or simply a location that photographs beautifully and fits your vibe. We’re always happy to help if you feel stuck on planning things out.

Your session will be completed within 1-2 weeks and photos will be made available via a private online gallery.

QUESTION:

talk nerdy to me, what are you shooting with?

ANSWER:

Digital: Canon 5DMKIV, Nikon Z6 II, 50mm f/1.4, 24-70mm f/1.4, 24-104mm f/2.8, SB700, 430EXII, Fujifilm X100V, Fujifilm Xt30II, MagMod Sphere, and growing.

Film: Although we aren’t officially film wedding photographers— we’re slowly starting to incorporate film more and more, so if you’re interested just ask!— we all have an assortment of film cameras that we use leisurely: Hasselblad 500c, Mamiya 645, Rollei B35, Minox 35, Contax G1, Minolta SRT 200 & 201, and more often than not shooting on Kodak Portra 400 or 800, and sometimes Fuji Velvia 100.

We all operate on Mac computers always always always backing up our work onto external hard drives and 2 cloud storage systems.

QUESTION:

what is a fun FACT ABOUT YOURSELVES?

ANSWER:

Stef has a weird obsession with disco music and absolutely has to sing out loud if she hears a song that she knows (and she’s not a good singer..)

Ethan has broken both wrists + his femur + his kneecap while biking (the last 2 at the same time, think: man on bike vs. tree). You can see more of Stef & Ethan’s personal and editorial work here.

Hannah has a secret human superpower that was handed down to her from her mom- her eyes don’t water when she’s cutting raw onions. You can see more of Hannah’s personal and documentary work here.

QUESTION:

can you share a photo of your dogs?

ANSWER:

This is probably the most important question here! Here are the dog loves of our lives, Blue (L) & Razzie (R). Don’t hesitate to ask for more photos if it better informs your decision about working together, and getting to hear more stories + see more photos of them ;)

for making it this far down:

bonus content!

You know how they say that best friends don’t have very many photos together? That’s all too true for us— and kind of ironic considering we’re photographers— so here are the only other 4 photos of us, Rosewood Studios, all together that exist in the world:

Possibly skipping class? Definitely walking to the Burger King across the street from our school campus lol. Taken by our friend Lane.

Top right, 2016:

Our first (and for… 4 whole years, the only) formal photo together. Taken in Greece by Hannah’s husband Yiannis.

Bottom left, 2019:

A not so great photo of us at Hannah’s wedding in 2019. Taken by unknown, possibly her husband? After so many gin & sodas none of us can remember haha.

Bottom Right, 2023:

At a wedding we were all working! Look at us remembering to take our own photo :’)
