Rochelle & Brendan's Eclectic Wedding

so much of Rochelle & Brendan’s personalities were woven into their wedding

From the incredible, custom, ring box, to Brendan’s suit details, Rochelle’s stunning heels, the Spider-Man pen to sign their official wedding documents, and so much more! Wedding planning can be about a lot of compromise (any people pleasers like us lol?!) so it’s easy to overlook the little details that will make you happy, and it’s clear that this is something they did not do. It’s hard to choose just one adjective to describe their day; eclectic is most certainly one, unique, true to themselves (if that was one word)

We started the day off by jumping right into their first look at a parkette near the hotel they were getting ready at. When we’re not with couples in the morning I always like to ask how their day has been so far, and both R&B said everything was great, and they both were clearly so excited. They had a simple civil ceremony with some of their family and a few friends at The Toronto Wedding Chapel where they also incorporated some traditional elements of Rochelle’s Filipino culture.

When we were first chatting and trying to figure out where to go for their portraits following the first location that came to mind was Mount Pleasant (pause for dramatic effect) Cemetery. If you’re familiar with the grounds you know how expansive and beautiful it is despite how strange of a “photo location” it may sound. I wasn’t sure if this is where we were going to actually go, but come their wedding they were committed to it so we did it! We found a private area away from actual graves and people to quickly shoot before taking off for another eclectic and fun location… Popeyes! Never have I ever thought we would end up on a wedding day, in full wedding gear, at a random Popeyes uptown but we did and it was so much fun! Like I said, so much of this wedding was all about Rochelle and Brendan and all of the things that make them and their relationship unique, and I’m so glad that their photos reflect that too!

i’m not going to lie i thought it was strange

That R&B wanted us to come to their reception, but didn’t actually want many photos of the reception itself. Prior to their wedding they said they wanted photos of the decor and some of the guests during cocktail hour but that’s it. As soon as I arrived I completely understood. What a unique and interesting place Storm Crow Manor is! It’s funny because when we shot Bonnie & Melissa’s engagement session in The Village I remember passing this building with this big tentacles on the side of it and thought it was cool, but it was also 6AM so it wasn’t like we could pop in to see what this place was all about haha. Finally getting the chance to go in for their wedding, and to walk around for a bit was so cool! I think I spent more time just walking and observing things for myself than actually shooting; every room, every wall, everything in there is something to look at! Coupled with the personal touches that R&B brought in for themselves… truly a sight to be behold and definitely something I’d want photos of too if it was my day!
