Lauren & Chris' Backyard Micro-Wedding

I don’t think for a second these two were ever considering cancelling or rescheduling their wedding…

It was always “whatever we can do when our date rolls around, is what we’re going to do”. They were originally planning a big family oriented wedding but with COVID and having to limit the number of guests they decided to cancel their large affair and pivot to a backyard wedding with their immediate families and a few close friends. These two’s love story started 6 years ago in university, they became friends, Lauren moved into Chris’ student rental, and only after she moved out they started dating because “we realized we missed each other too much” and the rest, as they say, is history! A funny comment they made on their wedding questionnaire to our question, “How did you know your partner is the one?” was this: “When I moved into the student house, Chris was there to help unload the car. My mom looked at me and said "you're going to marry that boy!" (because he was also Italian so essentially she was trying to arrange our marriage) and I replied with "definitely not mom" and now here we are. I guess this is more so "how did your mom know your partner was the one?" so I guess my answer is that my mom knew he was the one before I did! lol”

Their morning was easy and filled with almost all of their guests (mostly because it was all family ha), despite being together at Lauren’s parent’s house, Lauren hid upstairs all day while Chris helped put things together outside. It was a windy day and while there was some concern about it, a little never hurt anybody ;) When I walked into their backyard I was blown away (pun intended lol) at all of the florals Jennifer from The Paisley Rose had set up! When I commented at how beautiful it all looked to Lauren she said, “Since we cancelled our big wedding I adjusted my budget and put it all into the flowers!” and boy oh boy was it worth it! I wish we could have taken all of the photos in front of the beautiful floral arch because it was even more magical than what it looks like in photos- and it looks gooood!

The ceremony was short and sweet, but just as emotional as if they were in front of 150 of their original guests. They drank, they ate, and they partied the night away. And they even surprised everyone (mostly Lauren’s niece maybe?) with a surprise ice cream truck before hitting up Lauren’s incredible array of desserts + wedding cake that she made all herself!!
