East End Family Session with Julie, Dave, & Freddie

This was our first session back in a COVID era…

And we were anxiously excited, and nervous, and so many different feelings but in the end it ended up being such a great way back into shooting again!

We met Julie & Dave on a whim a couple of years ago when their original wedding photographer got sick and we jumped in (quite literally) at a moments notice to photograph their wedding. It was such a blast and is still one of our favourite weddings to date! A little while ago Julie sent us a message about how they had recently had a baby (Freddie!) and wanted to take some photos to document this milestone in their life, but our schedules at the time didn’t quite work out and we lost touch. Around Mother’s Day, Dave this time reached out to say that they still wanted to shoot sometime and so much so he wanted to gift Julie a session! A couple of months after that, life started getting back to “normal” so we planned this shoot!

J+D quite often spend their time at the waterfront since they’re living in The Beaches now so one morning we went to one of their favourite (secret!) spots where they ride their bikes and sit at the beach throwing rocks, “literally for like 2hrs a day, Freddie loves it”. In truth sometimes we feel like our photo sessions are too long but whenever we’re photographing kids we’re reminded why we buffer in so much time— from their little off route deviations, sometimes a temper tantrum here or there, or for younger babies scheduling in some feeding time, and quite literally their little legs that can’t keep up with our pace. Having so much time together also allowed us to go to multiple locations, we started off at one waterfront and made our way to another— the RC Harris Water Treatment Plant (which hello, would be such a lovely place for an engagement session, it’s a lot more beautiful than it sounds haha!!)

It was so nice to reconnect with this growing family and meet their little one— who btw is THE cutest I cannot believe!— and it feels like such an honour to be able to document yet another milestone in their life!
