Talia & Stan's Wedding at their University Pub
when couples ask for suggestions on where to shoot we always suggest somewhere sentimental to them…
Talia & stan took that to a whole new level by selecting the pub at their alma mater as their entire wedding venue! Having your photos taken in location that holds unique meaning to you— whether it’s where you first met, where you spend a lot of time together, where you had your first date— brings a layer of emotion and warmth to your photos that make them much more special to look back as the years go by. We typically help couples brainstorm this kind of location for their engagement session (btw if you can’t think of a sentimental spot for photos, choosing somewhere that looks beautiful and fits your aesthetic with no emotional ties at all is totally ok!!) as selecting your wedding venue is a personal choice that is influenced by so many things apart from how you feel, so it was really cool to see Talia & Stan such a personal spot for their wedding day.
While the morning of did start off with some rain, T&S were the absolute troopers in going with the flow and embracing whatever was thrown at them. Speaking of engagement sessions, we shot one earlier in the year with them and we truly can’t express how much we love doing these! It’s fun to have some photos of this exciting time in your life, and it’s also a wonderful opportunity to practice being in front of the camera especially if you’re feel uncomfortable at the thought of a photoshoot. Given the weather as we were shooting their portraits we didn’t take as much time as we would have loved to shoot but thanks to having already shot together, Talia & Stan were so comfortable, and so confident in front of the camera right off the bat. They moved so fluidly together from one pose to the next, and they were so clearly happy and poised doing it!
When we arrived at McMaster their ceremony space was decorated with a beautiful light set up, long family style tables, board games everywhere (for later, obviously), and a life size cutout of George Clooney (favourite cut out we’ve seen at a wedding so far tbh!). The atmosphere was joyous, light hearted, and so celebratory… everything you want a wedding day to be.
