A Sunset Engagement Session at Scotsdale Farm with Nicole & Kevin
Folks… we have found our new favourite place to shoot!
We’re so thankful to all of our couples throughout the pandemic for understanding the importance of flexibility. We had so many sessions scheduled for spring and summer and we reached out to everyone to say “let’s tentatively plan something and if we can do it, we’ll do it, but if not we’ll just wait until we can, is that ok?” and for everyone- it is! We were off and on in touch with Nicole and Kevin throughout the whole social isolation/quarantine roughly planning their engagement, brainstorming different locations, etc. One of the locations included The Toronto Botanical Gardens where this past winter we photographed Vivian & Steve’s engagement session! “It wa so beautiful in winter, we can only imagine what it’s like in summer with everything in bloom!” is what we had said to them, and they eagerly agreed so we booked it in! We struggled to find clear information about if the gardens/trails were open, and for how long (since we prefer to shoot around sunset which in summer is quite late in the evening). One night as I was scrolling through Instagram I spotted someone I follow shooting at Scotsdale Farm and immediately sent it to Nicole— I’ve seen so many other photographers shooting here and it has always looked so beautiful, but for some reason we’ve never been there! They immediately said yes and we all were so excited!
The grounds are so beautiful, it was a bit smaller than I expected (but maybe we didn’t get to everywhere or find the right trails?), but we managed to shoot more formal photos around the property, with the barn and heritage house, and then more informal, romantic, and intimate photos in the overgrown fields, which tbh are my absolute favourite! I can imagine coming back here and doing something similar, but also using the vast fields more, maybe even setting up a backdrop in the middle of everything and taking some editorial photos? Anyone?! ANYWAYS, apart from being incredibly excited to shoot I’ve known Nicole and Kevin since high school so it was nice to see them again and catch up! Both of them are the sweetest people (individually and together), are so down to earth, and are super photogenic, as you’ll see ;)
