Nadia & Mathew's Classic City Wedding
i think the best word to describe nadia & mat’s wedding is: classic
They had so many traditional elements to their day but it was so elevated, sophisticated, and still tiimeless. And to go with their classic wedding day they have a classic love story that started 8 years ago, “We were friends with one another for years. I secretly always had a crush on him (it was his humor that got me). We joked about dating and then he asked me out and the rest is history!”
When we got their inquiry we were surprised to see how quickly their day was approaching but like most COVID weddings they had jumped on the opportunity to put something together since restrictions have been lightened, and despite having pretty much everything planned they found themselves without a photographer! We were so glad that we were able to learn so much about them in the short time we had beforehand (thanks to our lengthy questionnaire!).
They started their day at St. Mary’s Immaculate Church in Richmond Hill, which is where Nadia used to work, so they had the joy of having their friend, Father Pawel, officiate their ceremony. Only having chatted via email and FaceTime prior to their wedding we were taken aback at Nadia’s beauty when we saw her for the first time in person! Paired with her stunning Eva Lendel dress and veil she was (is) a true picture of classic beauty!

we are obsessed with these portraits!
Nadia & Mat had originally rented a different car but leading up to their wedding something had happened and it was suddenly unavailable, so they called on their resources and borrowed this vintage Mercedes for the afternoon! They drove off from the church with it, and we used it as a prop in our portrait session and it was perfect. We didn’t get the opportunity to shoot an engagement session with them (and you all now how much we love those) so it was interesting learning their body language, and comfort level in front of the camera for the first time, but they completely nailed it and were so effortless! We love the combination of candids and more serious, editorial-like, photos we shot with them

following our romp in the field
We headed back to Nadia’s parents house for a backyard cocktail hour with most of their guests who were at the church. Since not everyone was coming to the restaurant it was a great way to still be able to celebrate with friends and family members while enjoying some snacks, using the fun balloon backdrop for photos, and taking advantage of the open bar ;)
Later we headed to La Vecchia Uptown for an intimate, more scaled back, dinner with just immediate family. They booked out both private spaces using one for dinner itself, and the other as an open area for h'orderves, group photos, and dancing. The space was beautifully decorated by their planner Saturnino Events & Design, and florist, Rikki Marcone; the combination of dry and fresh florals was a perfect compliment to the underground, exposed-brick, decor.
