An Intimate At Home Wedding with Laurie & Michael

some of favourite weddings will always be the intimate, at home, ones and laurie & michael’s day is no different
There’s something so special about having only your nearest and dearest in a location that means so much to you (maybe this is because personally I love hosting lol?) and in this case ‘home’ to Laurie & Michael is the very first home they bought together as a couple in Cabbagetown. We love connecting with guests at weddings when there’s time, and funny enough Laurie is actually Austin’s aunt (of Alicia & Austin) so we were excited to finally meet IRL at that wedding and briefly chat about their upcoming plans.
I’m always so fascinated about how every wedding is different; every. single. one. There are elements of days that are the same, but there will never be two weddings exactly alike. And now having photographed two weddings from folks in the same family, it’s funny to see some of the same faces at both weddings, but to really experience how beautifully different both weddings were, and how they both felt very special in their own ways.
It being their second weddings Laurie & MIchael knew that they wanted to keep things intimate; they had only their immediate families and kids present, held their ceremony right in their backyard (literally, not figuratively), had a private chef take over their own kitchen to make dinner, had their first dance in their living room, and so many more personal touches that they will cherish for years to come.
Don’t get me wrong, we all love a big, rambunctious, high energy, celebration with 200 people all day long— tbh some of my fave weddings have been our larger ones— but in the chaos of a busy season, getting to slow down with a 20 person wedding every so often really hits different.
