A Fun Fall Session with the Knott Family

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: we love adult family photo sessions!

While photographing newborns, and families with young kids, is always so special for documenting milestone moments, adult family sessions definitely fly under the radar more often than not. It’s easy for the excitement of family photos to dwindle as people get older; everyone suddenly has their own life, their own schedule, some may even have their own families. It’s hard to get everyone together and to coordinate a session, combined with the rarity of having really nice adult family photos, I think that’s what makes these sessions even more special.

A perfect example of getting the gang together is this session: Mike was turning the big 8-0 (80!!) and with all of his family being in town— kids, spouses, and grandkids— they decided to shoot a family photography session in celebration. We lucked out with a brisk but beautiful morning together with the most amazing light. The fun part about shooting family sessions with adults is that everyone is so efficient! With kids there’s some leeway with letting them run away a bit, having to take a break to feed babies, or to let dogs be dogs, but with all adults it’s go go go and I kid you knot (ha!) when I say it took us 20 minutes to get through of their groupings! We spent the rest of the sessions playing around (see the slide photo, my personal top choice for their holiday card lol) and chit chatting.
