Julie & Hugh's Georgian Bay Wedding

JulieHughWedding-290.jpg

While everyone was moving their 2020 weddings to 2021, Julie and Hugh decided they couldn’t wait to get married…

So they cancelled their big 2021 wedding in toronto, and opted for an intimate 2020 micro-wedding at georgian bay instead! These two live and work in Alberta and having just bought their first house together (congrats!!) they were going to come back to Ontario anyways to briefly visit family before the holidays and gather all of their things and drive back to AB, so why not take advantage of their time back home and you know, do the damn deed already?! With only a few months before they were slated to be back in Ontario they officially cancelled their big Toronto affair that was scheduled for 2021, and got to planning this wedding with only their nearest and dearest. Having not seen their families for the last few months they asked everyone to self-isolate leading up to their wedding so they could go all out at their wedding, and go all out they did!

Julie’s father’s property on Georgian Bay was the perfect, albeit cold, backdrop for their wedding; spacious with so much fall foliage, and even a dock they were extending prior to the wedding, but decided to speed up so the ceremony could take place right on the waterfront. The guys got ready on the property and in typical guys getting ready fashion, everything was done in the blink of an eye, so Ethan took the extra time he had to snap some photos of the beautiful decor and landscape, and knock out a few group photos with those who were there.

The girls on the other hand rented an Airbnb a few minute away and I don’t think I’ll ever forget how much Julie was yelling from the moment I started to when we finished later that night. Being so excited, so anxious, so eager, and I’m sure feeling so many more emotions had left her walking around all day yelling things like “I CAN’T WAIT” and “I’M GETTING MARRIED!!!!!” which later turned into “WE’RE MARRIED!” and “YOU’RE MY HUSBAND!!!!” I think (hope) for the most part everyone we photograph is looking forward to getting married, but Julie and her excitement truly win for being the most excited and I love it, so much so I’m smiling as I type this and remember it, it was really infectious

One of our favourite parts of the night are speeches…

It’s an opportunity for us to learn about the couple from different perspectives, to hear some funny (and usually embarrassing) highlights of their life, and to witness firsthand all of the days emotions come pouring out in the form of sentimental and heartwarming speeches that even have us wiping away some tears sometimes! Having a small group of 14 people it was easy to get personal and have people jump in with their comments, or even their sides of the story ;), so when J+H were sharing their thanks they were able to address everyone individually and share personal sentiments that they otherwise would not have been able to do with a large crowd.
