A Rainy Engagement Session with Hannah & Matt
Never have we ever shot a session completely in the rain
But after this amazing shoot with Hannah & Matt, I think we’re absolutely going to have to embrace the rain more! While we’re usually ones to suggest rescheduling on a rainy day we were in a predicament with H&M wherein they aren't from Toronto, were only in town for the weekend, were leaving that night, and won’t be back until their wedding day so this was our only option for shooting with them. When we began planning our shoot the weather outlook was positive, but as we got closer to we were in for a weekend filled with rain and overcast skies. We’re so grateful that they were understanding and willing to work with whatever we got, and even more so for their positive and playful attitudes hanging out in the rain all morning with us!
We met up at one of our new favourite spots, Woodbine Beach, early on a Monday morning (we opted for a weekday + morning session so we could lessen our chances of crowds, which on this rainy day really worked in our favour anyways lol). I think the whole time that we were shooting Hannah & Matt only used the umbrellas we had brought for the very beginning portion (when it was raining the hardest) but otherwise were absolutely troopers in walking, and even sitting in the rain.
After shooting at the waterfront for a bit we made our way up to Queen St. and walked in the neighbourhood for a bit, before popping into a couple of stores and taking a few more photos in the stops (with permission, of course!) It’s always so fun incorporating personal touches into photos, like being in a bookstore— both of them are avid readers who love to book browse— and a comic shop— both of them love comics, and even finding an Avatar doll that Hannah had been waiting for! It adds a really unique and personal touch to your photos.

While Hannah & Matt showed up in their photoshoot best we came prepared with clear umbrellas for you, a regular umbrellas for ourselves, towels, sandals (because sand), plastic bags to wrap around our cameras, and extra water bottles to wipe the sand off of our feet post shoot, like this:
