COVID Update

With ever changing COVID updates, we thought it would be easier to put together a blog post to outline wedding and wedding photography restrictions in Ontario right now

Some exciting news has come out of the province with the recent announcement that we are now moving into Step 1 of re-opening! Not only are our COVID cases down but our vaccination rates are up and we are thriiiiiiilled to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Other great news about reopening is that events and weddings in larger numbers can happen, which means retail photography (weddings, events, family and engagement sessions, etc.) is allowed to operate too. This means we can shoot again and we truly could not be more excited!

As of Friday July 16 we are moving into Step 3 of re-opening which means the following for weddings:

Step 3

When 70%-80% of adults are vaccinated with 1 dose and 25% of adults are fully vaccinated

  • Larger indoor & outdoor event gatherings

  • Larger indoor weddings or religious ceremonies with capacity limits

  • Wedding receptions at a venue: 50% capacity indoors, 75% capacity outdoors

  • Wedding receptions at a private property: 25 guests indoors, 100 guests outdoors

  • Indoor dining

As always we are still taking virtual meetings (Zoom, FaceTime, a simple phone call) to help plan (and re-plan) weddings and events, as well as to e-meet new couples! While 2021 didn’t turn out the way we hoped it to, we’re feeling hopeful that 2022 will be the bounce back year for the wedding industry and couples alike, and we hope that 2022 wedding receptions come back with a vengeance to make up for lost time (I mean, Bruno Mars does have a new song that hasn’t been able to hit any reception dance floors yet!)

If you have any questions about how we can work together right now, or if you would like to plan a photo session, don’t hesitate to reach out!

For future reference: the province recently moved from a coloured system to a new tiered reopening plan and here’s how weddings can happen under each step:

Step 1

When 60% of adults have received their first dose of the vaccine

  • Outdoor wedding ceremonies / religious services for as many people that can maintain a 6’ distance

  • Indoor wedding ceremonies or religious services at 15% venue capacity

  • Physical distancing must be maintained, and masks or face coverings worn by all guests

  • Outdoor gatherings of 10 people for casual events

  • Outdoor dining at tables of 4 (or more, if from the same household)

Step 2

When 70% of adults are vaccinated with 1 dose and 20% of adults are fully vaccinated

  • Outdoor wedding ceremonies / religious services for as many people that can maintain a 6’ distance

  • Indoor gatherings / organized events of 5 people

  • Outdoor dining at tables of 6

  • Larger indoor weddings or religious ceremonies with 25% capacity limits

  • 25 person gathering limit for casual events
