An Extended Family Session in Peak Fall

it is truly the highest honour to be asked to photograph our couples again and again

It has been such a pleasure getting to know this wonderful family over the last couple of years, starting with Lauren hosting Bianca & Blake’s engagement session at their cottage, later with Lauren & Chris’ pandemic wedding (one of our favourites!), even with photographing Lauren’s brother, Matthew & Elizabeth’s, engagement session, and now with their adventure as new parents. When we were first chatting about this family shoot we were expecting to just be photographing them, but later learning that this would be an extended family session made us all the more excited! Lauren’s family has the most beautiful backyard, and I can’t even begin to explain how wonderfully we lucked out with having an unseasonably warm and clear weekend so the photos we took were so warm and magical.

We know sometimes that a full family session for just yourself can be a lot, especially when you have new / younger babies who will inevitably get fussy and you’ll have to keep taking breaks, so I think this is a great testament to how you can really maximize your session! Bringing in your family and doing an extended family photoshoot is fun especially when you just want a few photos of everyone together (how many poses can 8 adults + 3 kids + 2 dogs do you know?), and some photos of each individual family.

I also love that while Lauren & Chris did recently have a baby and they wanted their own photos to commemorate that, there wasn’t any particular reason for expanding this to their whole immediate family. We absolutely love just because shoots; there doesn’t always have to be the perfect time for a shoot like this, sometimes no reason is the best reason!
