Alicia & Austin's Editorial Engagement Session
this engagement session was unlike anything we’ve ever done before…
It all started with a photo Alicia found and was so inspired by that they decided to base their entire shoot around it The photo involved a vintage car— which they have— a picnic basket— which they got— and chic complimentary (not matching) outfits— which they brought. The weather was starting to take a turn to the cool side when we were planning this session so we quickly nailed down a date before any of the leaves changed, and what luck we had! Austin’s family literally just finished closing on this land and it couldn’t have been more perfect to drive their car around, even to a small pond out back where they hopped into their canoe for a cute water moment. In addition to the absolutely flawless evening, for both temperature and clear skies that we had, this session truly could not have gone better!
While our overall shooting style teeters more into the documentary style of shooting, and we know that not everyone may not be into the more editorial and pose-y feel for their engagement photos, this was such a fun change to our usual pace! We all looove editorial photography, we love a serious model moment, and we love making people glamours and chic with a unique shoot like this, so when Alicia mentioned that they wanted to do this, we were ecstatic!
It was such a fun night tapping into this side of our photography while still working with a couple, and their own excitement, over such a joyous time in their lives (other photographers know the vibe) and we can’t wait to celebrate their big day the next year!
