Steph & Lenier's Spring Maternity Session

StephsMaternitySession-99.jpg

I was so excited for this session for so many different reasons…

I’ve informally known, have seen around, and have photographed Steph (ok it was 1 time in college for a project haha) over the years, and having the opportunity to document this milestone in her life is such an honour! The last time I was at her house her dogs— Tequila & Kaluha— were still large just not as large, and if you know me (Stef), you know that I am 1. obsessed with literally every dog, and 2. especially obsessed/in love with large dogs, so I mostly spent my time in between outfit changes playing with the dogs ;) So much so I have 0 photos of any behind the scenes snaps and approximately 500 photos and videos of me and the dogs haha.

We scheduled this shoot on a chilly Saturday evening and we started by shooting inside and around their home, looking through baby clothes (my favourite thing— they’re soooo tiny!!!), having a tea in their ‘Dad Goals’ and ‘Mom Life’ mugs, even snuggling up on their dogs (of course). I’m obsessed with the matching Adidas tracksuits these two have for not only themselves but for Baby J, it reminds me of The Royal Tenenbaums, and more specifically Ben Stiller and his family! After shooting inside for a bit, and when the sun finally was low enough outside to get that perfect glow, we headed out for a walk at a nearby ravine. The outdoor photos are by far my favourite; the way these two walk and interact with each other is so admirable, the photo of Steph and Lenier against the greenery where Steph is looking at him, and she looks so happy she could cry (in a good way) breaks my heart (also in a good way!).

It’s a crazy time in the world but I couldn’t feel more excited for these two to be bringing another wonderful human into the world soon!
