Nicole & Kevin's Wedding at Hockley Valley Resort

what a joy it has been to watch these two grow together…

Stef, and Nicole + Kevin all went to high school together, have even worked after school jobs together / worked in the mall a few stores away from each other, and over the years Stef has had the pleasure of photographing Nicole. So to go from casual hang outs at/after school, to retail mall jobs, informal portrait sessions, to this! This massive milestone in their lives! And to get to photograph it! Seriously, what an honour :’)

Their day was nothing short of emotional, heartwarming, and celebratory and Hockley Valley Resort was the perfect backdrop for accomodations, the ceremony, and the reception all in one space! Between the DIY decorations that they’ve worked on all throughout lockdown to stunning floral arrangements by DeLight Floral + Design, everything has its purpose and played its role in bringing this highly anticipated wedding together.

Though their rooms were across the hall from each other both Nicole and Kevin spent the morning getting ready separately, and with their respective peoples. Nicole and her girls + her brother, were in a beautiful suite with a stunning spiral staircase and a perfect little balcony for some solo bridal portraits. Kevin, across the hall, was with his brothers and friends doing what guys do best: being already ready by the time we arrive for photos.

Their ceremony was held outdoors under a tent— which was perfect because it did start raining a bit, but also because it added a space of privacy from other guests are the resort— and was decorated with a beautiful floral arch, a COVID appropriate live stream, and their closest family and friends.. It was a traditional Catholic ceremony that had every single person in the room smiling and feeling emotional,

Unfortunately the clouds had come in and we only had a few minutes before we had to clear out of the area so we hustled hard and took as many photos as we could all in about 15 minutes. After heading back to the venue we pulled Nicole and Kevin apart from their parties and took a little more time to shoot in the beautiful tree lined entryway because really, how could we not!?

The reception space was more beautiful than anyone could imagine! Nicole worked tirelessly all throughout the lockdown DIY’ing a table seating chart, table numbers, putting together their party favours, etc. and seeing it come together was incredible! Paired with their custom ‘The Vinzons’ sign at their sweetheart head table was just *chefs kiss*. The reception was not unlike their ceremony, in that it was just as emotional with heartfelt speeches from family members, touching first dances with their parents, and even a surprise serenade from Kevin before their first dance as husband and wife!

This was actually our first wedding since pre-COVID where there was a dancefloor so to say that we were t h r i l l e d, is an understatement. It was has been a loooong 1.5years of not hitting up a dancefloor, screaming our lungs out singing along to classic hits, and having an absolute field day watching everyone let loose and dance the night away. Honestly, we wish we didn’t have to leave!

A love note from the lovely couple-

[Rosewood Studios] were absolutely amazing. Their communication throughout the entire process was great, very responsive and always made sure all of our questions were answered. The day of the wedding, we couldn't have asked for better photographers. They got all the pictures we "needed" and were very organized. For our candid shots, it was like they weren't even there while still capturing the moment, making it that much more enjoyable. Thank you [Rosewood Studios] for all of your support and the amazing photos we will have for a lifetime.
