Maddy & Cole's Fall Wedding at Kortright
maddy & cole’s october wedding was a picture perfect fall day
As lovely as our summers & falls are here in Toronto, as the warm weather winds down there’s never really a consistent window of good or bad weather, sometimes we have long stretches of wet and cool grey days, other times it suddenly feels like summer again. Luckily for Maddy & Cole’s wedding day it was the latter. The morning started off overcast and rainy, but luckily everyone was indoors getting ready at the Novotel Vaughan Mills. Maddy and her girls had a chill morning in their super cute matching PJ’s, and by the time I arrived for photo ops everyone was ready to change and get things going. They had their dresses hanging up, and Madison even had a box with all of their details and invitation suite all ready for their photo moment— we LOVE this btw, it keeps everything together for both us and you + makes flat lays quick and much easier to set up and put away.
It felt like on the brief drive from the hotel to Kortright the clouds parted and the sun came out because as soon as we stepped into the ceremony area— an all yellow part of the conservation, near the event space— it trees were so bold, bright, and beautiful. They were such a vibrant contrast to the auburn highlight colour of the bridemaids dress, and the greens of the groomsmen + Cole’s blue suit. Everything looked so beautiful while taking all of our group photos, but things really brightened and warmed up during the ceremony! On a technical note, I opted to use a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens for the ceremony given the large outdoor space, and for some compression while shooting and it turned out to be even more stunning than I expected!

it’s always fun to see a reception room transformed from an empty room to something UNIQUE AND SPECIAL
Alessia and her team did such a beautiful job at putting everything together; from the vintage plates used as table numbers, auburn runners, the disposable cameras, and the pièce de résistance: allllll of those candles at the head table!! The vibes, as they say, were immaculate. The evening was nothing short of celebratory, joyous, and emotional. My personal favourite part being the traditional Macedonian Bread Game that Maddy’s mom initiated. In this both the MOB & MOG rip from both ends of bread, whoever wins the larger half of the bread will ‘wear the pants’ lol.
