this was a maternity session like no other…

When Liv first approached us about shooting a solo maternity session we were excited! How empowering it is to have photos of just you, at this most unique and exciting time of your life! We did not at all expect this shoot to happen the way it did, in the best way possible; we went back and forth trying to find the right studio and the right dates to shoot, and finally we settled on our favourite local spot, Preto Loft. While we were looking, Preto had a stunning Valentine’s installation up in a couple of their studios and we actually thought we were just about to miss it, when fortunately they extended it, so we knew we had to book it in before it was taken down. And wow! Wow! We’re so thrilled that we were able to shoot in such a stunning space, with such a stunning set up, and a stunning mama to be!

On the morning of Liv got her hair and make up done at Kroma Salon (the fabulous salon where she works!), and brought along her gal pals and hype crew, Eleni— who is the mastermind behind The Social Bee Inc. and who also shot some great behind the scenes content— and Steph— founder of Kroma Salon, who also greatly helped creative direct this shoot.

Being in front of the camera is a weird experience, we’re the first to admit that, so bringing along a support team is always encouraged whether it’s your partner, a family member, or even a couple of girlfriends! We love the comfort that someone familiar brings to the shoot, and the back and forth banter that takes your mind off of the camera for a moment, and gets you relaxed and feeling good!
