Laura & Mauni's Old Mill Wedding in Toronto

Laura’s family has been getting married at the Old Mill for 70+ years…

How beautiful of a tradition is that?! When her + Mauni knew they were going to get married (before even getting engaged) they booked the Old Mill... that's how sure they were of each other! One day Mauni came home with groceries to make dinner. After he was finished unpacking them, he told Laura he has "one more ingredient" and pulled the ring out of the grocery bag and got down on one knee.

L+M spent the weekend apart from each other but both got ready at the Old Mill (which was super useful when Stef was with Mauni but needed to get the scissors Laura and Hannah had downstairs to trim M's boutonnière!), had their ceremony at the Old Mill, and then later danced the night away at the Old Mill. Laura's parents got married at the Old Mill, her grandparents celebrated their love at the Old Mill and so have others in their family. The Old Mill wasn't just another wedding venue for them, it's a place that holds a long standing family tradition and lots of sentiment.

From Laura's first email to us, having our first meeting (and the most delicious bagel breakfast we still stan) at Kiva's, coffee meetups at Propeller and even a pre-wedding pow wow at their local cafe, The Lazy Tulip , we really got to know and connect with Laura + Mauni before their wedding! Getting to know our couples makes such a big difference in how we photograph them; they give the photos a feeling of intimacy for both us and them.

After their ceremony we all made our way around the property to take photos

Never having been to the Old Mill before this we were definitely a bit overwhelmed with how large it is and how many beautiful nooks and crannies there are to shoot in! Before we started shooting we took some time to walk around, scout out a few spots, and even to take a peek at the set up and decor before everyone else! (It's funny though, even though we had done all this beforehand we still got a little lost walking around haha). Laura + Mauni were absolute naturals in front of the camera; so effortlessly in love, so excited to finally be with one another, so happy to be married! It made their photos together much more beautiful and that much sweeter. At the reception, L+M had their own sweetheart table at the front of the room, and it was draped with the most beautiful flowers (with succulents inside of them!!).

Speeches are easily one of our favourite parts of a wedding- hearing Laura + Mauni's nearest and dearest share stories about their lives as well as their excitement for them is always fun for us.

Is there any better way to end the night than with some high energy dancing?

Dancing is always the best way for us to finish up our day; it's so much fun how could it not be?! We love seeing everyone unwind after dinner and really let it all out! Extra bonus points always go to the super fun and amazing dancers in the group who absolutely shine on the dancefloor- you're the extra MVPs of the night ;)

PS. There's a 99.9999% chance you'll catch us dancing and singing behind our cameras on the dancefloor
