Kris & Drew's Intimate Elopement in Hamilton

Kris & drew have the sweetest love story

They met through a few mutual friends but really connected when they shared a day at the Toronto Pride Parade back in 2017, fast forward to some more time together, an engagement, and then (like so many others) COVID happened. They had put their wedding plans on hold but as restrictions began lifting and Drew’s mom started making arrangements for a wedding for them in Buffalo— where Drew is from— they also decided to throw a little elopement in the current place the call home as a way to have their friends and family here celebrate and share in their love.
Being a same sex couple inclusivity was (is) important to them when searching for vendors so when looking for a venue and coming across Radius and their stellar reviews for being a LGBTQ+ friendly space, on top of a beautiful and delicious restaurant, they jumped on it. We’re honoured to have connected with them through the same way; proudly supporting 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC couples and families, and being open and honest about how not perfect but are still actively learning how we can best support these folx through our work and in our everyday lives. We’re so grateful for Kris & Drew connecting with this in this way, for enjoying our work, and for giving us the privilege of capturing their day.

we had planned to shoot their portraits before the ceremony

But considering the rain and cloudy day we didn’t get a chance to do anything outside, so following the ceremony and after a brief mingle with all of their guests we took a quick walk up the block to bask in a little patch of sunlight on the sidewalk to shoot a few photos of the newlyweds together. We love a city backdrop, but a downside of this was not having any ‘green’ spaces close by, so we made do with what we have (the sidewalk and the sunlight haha) before heading back in.

For dinner, everyone was seated in long family style tables with bouquets and candles around them; a truly intimate and warm setting. Before parting ways for the night Kris & Drew cut their cake, made by their wonderful friend at Sweet Paradise Bakery, and Kris’ dad made sure to surprise everyone with a round of celebratory shots before being seated for dinner.
