Kirstie & Jackie's Sunrise Engagement at Woodbine Beach

A fail proof combination for beautiful photos for us is: sunset (or in this case sunrise) + the waterfront

You really can’t go wrong being at the waterfront, it’s always our top suggestion for engagement session locations, it’s truly our favourite place. Our preferred shooting time is always around sunrise or sunset; when the soft warm and orange glow hits the water and you get the most flattering light all around you… it is *chefs kiss* The bonus of being around the waterfront is that their is typically some kind of trail or green space nearby so we’re always guaranteed variety.

We know the words ‘let’s meet before the crack of dawn’ is not the most appealing sentence out there, especially when it’s to take photos of you looking lively, happy, and excited to be there, but boy oh boy do we promise that it’s worth it! When we begin planning engagement sessions we like to typically ask for a few tentative dates to shoot, in case there’s any inclement weather we can reschedule to the next day, and if we get to our last day and it’s still not great out we haven’t lost out on anything so we’ll just shoot no matter the weather. That’s exactly what happened with Kirstie & Jackie. We were expecting overcast skies and a not too clear sunrise but were pleasantly surprised when that quickly passed and we were delighted with some warm sunlight!

Not to toot our own horns but we like to think of ourselves as personable and easy to get along with and we like to seek out the same kind of people in return, and it felt like we found exactly that with Kirstie & Jackie! Finding common ground over our shared neighbourhood, our similar dog struggles (reactive dog moms unite!), and excitement over their wedding we had a fun morning chit chatting and watching the sun rise together. The best feeling is walking away from a photo session both feeling so good about the photos but also being so so excited about all of the good things to come together (their wedding, bringing those photos to life, and later delivering it to them) and that’s exactly what this session was like :’)
