Allie & Arfan's Downtown Wedding at The Burroughes

I genuinely don’t know where to begin talking about Allie & Arfan’s big day, they both are so amazing I could go on for days about them…

About all of our meetups, all of the stories we (ok mostly them because they’re the best storytellers!) have shared over drinks, how fun they are, how cool they are, how hilarious their friends are, BUT I know I can’t ramble for that long so I’ll (try my best) to summarize as best as I can ;) These two lured us in by saying they were having a hora loca (crazy hour) at their wedding reception which was then later described as “when the lights go out, props are handed out, and the music is turned up!” And yes, it was exactly as fun as it sounds! Each interaction we’ve had with them after that initial email only got better and better so much so that when their wedding day rolled around we felt so comfortable, and almost like we were shooting our own friends wedding!

On the day of, Arfan and his groomsmen got ready at a friend’s condo downtown. Arfan being Arfan (someone else’s words, not mine!) was fashionably late to his own party and showed up exactly as when we had to leave. We forced (with s0o0oo much force ;)) the guys to quickly party hard so we could get in as many photos as possible before I had to rush away to meet the girls at Hotel X. The girls being girls (again, not my words!) were all prepared, dressed, and ready to go when we arrived so we jumped right into some group photos and a first look between Allie & Arfan, and Allie & her dad!

Since we’ve become more acquainted with the Toronto wedding scene

We’ve made ourselves a small list of venues that we’d love to shoot at and The Burroughes was definitely on the top of that list! Getting to shoot here with such an amazing couple and team, was a dream! Their ceremony was short and sweet, and filled with so much emotion and love; it felt like the whole room was grinning ear to ear for these two!

If there’s something we love, it’s rooftops!

I wish we could have stayed up on this roof all the way until the sun went down, and then a little bit longer after that, it was so beautiful! We knocked out a few group photos at the hotel earlier in the day but we always love to redo them when we’re officially doing family and group photos so you can have consistency (and maybe it’s a little bit of our OCD hehe).

So much of this venue speaks for itself so decor was minimal; string lights, huge vases filled with pink and burgundy flowers, and some really cute personal elements like a polaroid station for guests to take a picture of themselves and put it in their guest book (something I love!).

What. A. Reception!

From the actual ambiance itself (which was lively and fun) to the delicious dinner and the lovely staff, everything was perfect and so enjoyable for guests and even us as vendors! The cake cutting was also not your average cake cutting; it was filled with strings at the bottom where single women were encourage to pull a string from the bottom of the cake and so many people bombarded the dessert table to get to it before A+A officially cut into it!

One thing led to another and once the first dances were over the hora loca began and it. was. a. blast! So much so we inadvertently stayed an extra 40 minutes because we were too busy singing and dancing to notice the time haha!
