photos for any point in your relationship
As wedding photographers, we absolutely love shooting engagement sessions. Often when we’re first talking to couples interested in wedding photography with us, we get the question “do we really need engagement photos?” and the simple answer is: No, you don’t, but they are incredibly beneficial for a number of reasons.
First, it gives us as your wedding photographers a chance to get to know each couple on a more personal level, before spending your big day working together. You will get to know how we work, how your photos will turn out after the editing process, our shooting style, and how we will direct your movements to make you look and feel your best.
Second, you won’t be camera shy on your wedding day! Learning how to interact with your partner in front of a camera lens is an important skill to learn and conquer! We can promise you that by the end of your engagement photo session, you’ll be feeling comfortable and confident together.
Third, you’re completely in charge of your own photo session with us! Whether you want to go to Scarborough Bluffs and walk along the scenic cliffside, or you want to go to the Drake Hotel Cafe and sip some coffee together before walking to Trinity Bellwoods, or even if you want to stay in the comfort of your own home and have a cozy couch session- the decision is completely yours.
Lastly, it’s part of all of our packages at Rosewood Studios anyway, so why not? Our wedding photography packages all include an engagement session completely free of charge because we find them to be so beneficial with all of our couples! Why not just dedicate time for you and your partner to get dressed up, take photos together, get creative, and have fun?
One tip that we can give for your engagement photo session is to make sure you’re as comfortable with your outfit as possible! If you’re spending too much time adjusting buttons, fluffy hair, smudged glasses, shirt lengths, or pulling up loose pants, you’re going to end up feeling self conscious. When you feel your best and when you feel that you look your best, that will translate into confidence perfectly in your photos. That way you and your partner can just focus on each other and your excitement about planning your wedding!
